Should I choose a Unix or Windows server?

   As a general rule of thumb, we recommend choosing Unix due to the many advantages it offers for web hosting.  Our Instant Setup Control Panel will allow you to setup anything you want on your web site without having to wait for someone to do it for you.  Also, we preinstall a few dozen programs into your web site that are ready to run.  Unix provides many other features and has a lower cost.

   However, Windows NT is required if you plan to do ASP programming, run a Microsoft Access database or a Microsoft SQL database.  Basically, Microsoft isn't compatible with anything but Microsoft, with the exception of Front Page extensions which are available on every type of account we offer.  You will see the differences between the two as you compare the list of features below.  We try to provide every Unix server feature that we can, but some things just can not be integrated with the NT servers.
